Why Have One?

Marine security is a constant problem, and we are frequently asked if there is anything we can do to help protect an outboard. While any fabric cover can be removed with a good pair of scissors, the addition of a cover to keep potential thieves guessing can be helpful. If they can’t see what is inside, they are more likely to move on to something more obvious.

We are also able to add a locking facility to our Full covers. This is an eye in the leg strap, allowing the cover to be padlocked onto the engine. A significant amount of outboard theft is planned by teams that steal motors to order. If they can’t see what type it is, they are more likely to move on to one they can easily get to.

Our locking eye is not the total solution, but it will help. The cover will also be badly damaged if anybody tries to steal it.

Handy Hint

Did you know each Outboard Cover sold by us has a white tag sewn into the lining that has an individual number on it? If you know your number & you might suspect someone of theft you can check to see if your numbers are sewn into the cover. This is great for insurance claims as well.
